Hybrid beds are what we are looking at today.

So, we are continuing our discussion on mattresses and the different styles available today.

Over the last few weeks, we have talked about the steps in selecting a bed, and about the all-foam bed, but there is also a newer style that is called a hybrid mattress.....What is it?

We have always had innerspring mattresses with a coiled support system inside of it that gave a firm, supported comfort.

Within the last 10 years, the all-foam

Mattresses have become very popular...but has also had some concerns from buyers about sleeping too warm and too soft.

The hybrid is a newer version which combines the innerspring along with the specialty foam padding- providing support and comfort!

  • Why do you think this is a great option for many people?

    • A Hybrid gives you the best of both worlds- support and comfort.

    • Often, if you are over 18 years old, you have some body aches and pains. You have worked hard and now need a restful sleep. The hybrid foam comforts your pressure points where you ache, but gives you support through the coil system so your body can rest and not hold a "position" all night. The right mattress should allow your muscles to relax and regenerate themselves while you sleep. If you are sleeping in a dip or a too firm of a mattress, your muscles will constantly try to relive pain throughout the night (toss and turn) vs rest comfortably.

  • Do hybrid mattresses also come in different firmnesses?

    • Yes, they are not all super soft, or super firm. Each collection has different firmnesses. The foam layering or the coil strength will give the mattress a different feel.

    • You may prefer a firmer mattress if you are a back sleeper or have had back surgery. You most likely prefer a plush mattress (middle range comfort) if you sleep on your side or have had a hip replacement for example. Or you may want the Pillow Top (softest comfort) if you have had a shoulder accident/issue or sleep on your stomach.

    • Finding the right comfort is not as hard as you think. You do not need a computer to tell you your pressure points. Come in, we will talk about what is not right with what you have and where your body needs support.

  • Can hybrid mattresses be used with adjustable bases?

    • Yes! Most of them can! You should always ask to make sure. Older mattresses have a boarder wire which help to support the edge of the mattress when sat on. New mattresses are designed differently so they will bend with the adjustable base and go back to flat position nicely The edge is also supported differently, to not break down over time when sat on.

  • Anything else we should know about a hybrid mattress?

    • Hybrid mattresses can range in price from $399 to $2399. Just because it says HYBRID on the edge, does not mean that it will give you the best sleep of your life or last forever! You still need to know the facts of the mattress- the inside story.

      • How many coils does it have?

      • What type of coils?

      • What type of foams does it have?

      • Will the foams last or break down?

      • Will I sink in the mattress?

      • Will a dip occur after 3 months?

      • Where was it made?

      • Does it have harmful materials in it?

      • Will there be off gases from the mattress?

      • Will the mattress sleep hot?

      • Will the mattress sleep cold?

      • What is the warranty?

    • All of these questions and the answers to them are very, very important. Remember, you get what you pay for- don't be fooled by fancy names. You can get really good quality for a very reasonable price. We promise! Come see us! We will help you find what will be best for you. We want you to sleep well, so you can live well!
