Try this Christmas Potpourri Recipe. It will Instantly Make Your Home Smell Like the Holidays!

Aromatherapy. It’s a thing…especially at Christmas. Because nothing puts you in the holiday spirit quite like a pot of wintry scents bubbling and boiling in your happy home. Ready to be soothed? Here's the easiest (and ahem, best) recipe for Christmas potpourri to make on your stove at home. All you need is a few ingredients and 30 seconds.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 cups water

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 orange, sliced

  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg

  • 2 teaspoons cloves

  • 1 cup cranberries

  • 1 rosemary sprig

  • Additional spices, like star anise (optional)

Directions

1. Add the water to a saucepan. Toss in all the additional ingredients

2. Simmer them on low ( some use the stovetop, others use a crockpot) adding water as needed to freshen.

Other ideas that Kathy talk about today was:

  • Cleaning up the "normal items" Often, we are uses to our piles- the mail, the toys, everything on the fridge. Just cleaning up these areas for guest can make the room feel fresh and ready for a celebration.

  • Think about who is coming to your home. Is a Grandparent coming? Anyone with walking or vision issues? Make sure that walkways are clear, rugs are removed or secure. You are familiar to your home, but visitors are not. Please keep walkways safe!

  • Checking your artwork! Artwork over your sofa, or over an accent chest should only be about 4-6" above the large piece. If your artwork over the sofa is a mile above, then grab the hammer. Think of the art and the piece it's over as one unit. They are viewed together, not alone. Also, artwork is expected to be viewed while seated (unless you live in a museum). Hang it so your eyes can naturally view it will sitting without raising your head.

  • Freshen up the guest room! Empty a drawer. Make the bed up with new sheets. Turn the sheets down like at a hotel. Add a new pillows! Maybe a new pillow may make a great gift! Set some nicer towels out with a small bag of cookies! Just like Santa, everyone likes a sweet treat!

  • Enjoy the small things. Forget about the things that you "wanted to do, but didn't". No one else will know. You won't remember about it a month from now. You will remember the smiles, and laughs shared together. Merry Christmas!
