Fabric Care and Cleaning

Tis the Season for Popsicle….

Since it is Spring, even though we have the occasional weekly snowstorm, you maybe just about ready to bust out the swimsuits and popsicle. We know that even though you tell the kids to stay off the white linen sofa, indefinitely there will be a red hand print somewhere!

The following cleaning codes and instructions are provided for your education and direction in cleaning spots and stains from your new upholstery. We strongly recommend you call the company’s service department, fabric protection company (you hopefully purchased) or a professional cleaner. Always test cleaners in a hidden area before proceeding.

To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime

is recommended. Try spot cleaning using a mild water-free solvent if fabric is rated S for solvent. We like the Woolite Fresh Scent Dry Cleaning Sheets. Just rub them on the soiled area and follow the given directions. Remember to pretest small area before proceeding. If you furniture has a W code, you should stick to a water- based upholstery cleaner only. Do not saturate. Pile fabrics may require brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to restore appearance. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is not recommended. Cushion casings should not be removed and laundered or dry cleaned separately. When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots or stains from the outside to the middle of the affected area to prevent circling.

We know life is going to happen if you are ready for it our not and no matter sticky fingers on the sofa or not, life will go on! But to give you peace of mind on your next fabric piece, purchase the fabric protection warranty. This warranty will allow you to relax and enjoy your home, because if you do spill pizza or coffee on it, you can call the 800 number for advice on how to clean the spot. If the spot is stubborn and still will not come out with the given advice, the company will send professional cleaners at their cost to take care of the stain! I know you are asking, “but what if it still doesn’t come out?” If that is so, they will call us to either reorder the cushion or an entire new sofa or chair at their cost, not yours! Relax and use your furniture for the next 10 years without having nightmares of Popsicle drips! Be the cool mom and come visit us!
